Understanding Drink Spiking

Drink spiking is when someone adds a substance to your drink without your knowledge. This can include alcohol, prescription drugs, or illegal substances. The goal is often to make you vulnerable to assault, theft, or other harm.

It can happen to anyone, anywhere—at bars, clubs, parties, or even at home. Being informed is your first line of defense.

Prevention Tips

Simple steps to stay safer

1

Watch Your Drink

Never leave your drink unattended. Take it with you, even to the restroom, or finish it first.

2

Cover Your Drink

Use a SpiLa lid or your hand to cover your glass when you're not actively drinking.

3

Use the Buddy System

Go out with friends you trust and look out for each other throughout the night.

4

Trust Your Instincts

If something feels wrong, it probably is. Don't hesitate to leave or ask for help.
